I was looking for other women who resembled what I wanted to become…strong, independent, confident, genuine, and living with purpose. I wasn’t sure exactly what that looked like for me, but I knew I needed to surround myself with healthy women.

After a little searching, I found DIVA Women Outdoor  Worldwide (WOW) and decided to attend my first pistol shooting league. WOW was right! I had a blast, met some amazing women, and fell in love with “all things guns.” 

Upon getting involved, I f0und a community of like-minded individuals who show the power of having a support system when you need it most.

What is DIVA WOW?

The mission of DIVA – Women Outdoors Worldwide is to help, teach, and guide women worldwide in a friendly, non-threatening , supportive environment by introducing them to shooting sports and a variety of outdoor, and traditionally male, activities.

Since 1999, DIVA WOW has introduced thousands of women to the outdoors through 3-gun/shotgun/handgun clinics, leagues (including archery), hunts, trade shows, adventures to the State Fair of Texas, Canton (which is a yearly DIVA road trip), charity events, and community outreach.

Speaking of archery, I just did an archery clinic this past weekend where we learned the basics… how to shoot the different styles of bows provided by Cinnamon Creek Ranch while competing with each other. Now, this chick needs a bit of practice, but how FUN it was to experiment in a non-threatening environment with cool weaponry!

With regard to gun, DIVA WOW provides access to first-class classes & certifications to get your CHL (Concealed Handgun License), plus NRA certifications and basic trainings. I love the spirit of sisterhood we’ve enjoyed, including our first-timers, while enjoying the great outdoors and all that it has to offer.

The sponsors for the DIVA WOW – 501 (C) (4) organization are quite generous. The raffles, give-aways, and SHOPPING involved are phenomenal! After all, who wouldn’t want a cheetah print wrapped AR-15 in their collection?

Membership in DIVA WOW

DIVA WOW is a unique, non-profit, social, all volunteer organization. Sponsor and benefactor contributions finance the organization. There are several types of  membership available:

• Regular annual
• Student
• Junior
• Life-time

DIVA WOW In Frisco

In the Frisco area, there is a handgun league that meets about 3 times per year at the Frisco Gun Club, and of course, they’re always looking to expand with events that are of interest in the community.

In the past, I have participated in the DFW area, but there are DIVA Liasons all over the world. Founder Judy Rhodes is right there in the trenches and gives so much of herself to the mission of this great organization.

There are many aspects to staying healthy and DIVA WOW addresses several in one place. You can nurture your physical, mental, social, economical  & spiritual self in a wide variety of ways just by being involved with DIVA WOW. It’s a joy for me to connect with others, teach and train, learn from, and give back.
